3 hour queue seen at 58 Minced Meat Noodle Stall In Bedok South ahead of closure

A minced meat noodle stall which has been operating in Bedok South for decades will close next Friday (30 September). Since yesterday was the last weekend when the stall owner is open for business, many loyal customers come to line up, and some even queued in the dark for more than three hours in the early morning.

Last Saturday, some netizens said that they queued for two to two and a half hours at 58 Minced Meat Noodle Stall In Bedok South in Bedok South Cooked Food Centre, in order to taste their food before they closed. Yesterday was the last Sunday before their closure and there were still long queues in front of the stall.

Channel 8 reported that when they visited the place at 9am on Sunday morning, they found that there were at least 50 people lined up outside the stall. The crowd extended to another row of stalls, and the vendors were overwhelmed, busy taking orders, making dumplings and cooking noodles.

A sign was posted outside the stall informing customers that they would be closing next Friday (30th). As the stall is closed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, next Thursday (29 September) will be their last day of operation.

The stall owner has been busy dealing with customers’ orders and declined to be interviewed by reporters.

A 42-year-old diner who has been eating minced meat noodle soup from this stall since childhood, said that after learning that the stall owner was about to retire, he came to queue at 6:15am in the morning for a final feast and waited for three hours to order.

He said the aroma of the minced meat noodle is unique and the stall owners are not stingy with the ingredients that go into the dish. He added that the price is also very reasonable.

He felt sad that the stall that he had been patronizing for many years was about to close, but he also believed that the stall owner could take this opportunity to take a good rest because he was old and could not find a replacement.
