Miss Africa 2018 nearly ends in disaster when winner’s hair catches on fire on stage

The Miss Africa 2018 beauty pageant nearly ended in disaster right after the winner was announced when her hair caught on fire due to the pyrotechnics that were set off on stage to celebrate her win.

The beauty queen who won the continental pageant, Dorcas Kasinde who represented Congo, cried as she was announced as the winner. When she leaned in to hug the runner-up, her hair went up in flames.

Gasps went up from the live crowd as the 24-year-old’s hair caught on fire. A man ran over to put out the fire and others rushed to Dorcas’ aid.

Dorcas survived the shocking turn of events. She assured her fans that she was alright in a video she later posted: “I’m good. My hair… it’s okay. I feel good now. Thank you! I’m so happy and I want to thank you all to come tonight to support me and support me on social media.”

Dorcas won $35,000 and a sportscar, besides the title of Miss Africa 2018.
